How do you put together a choir during a pandemic? Somehow I managed to form The Nicechappettes, the first ever socially-distanced vocal combo boasting members based in Scotland, Canada and Portugal. Calum, Gus, Chris, Laura, Gregor and the unmistakable vocal tone of Carla J Easton all remotely ensembled to give this (very old) song the injection of soul that it required.
lyrics
Well he used up his share of prosperity
His quota of good fortune
And he set out to repair the wreck he made
For it was broken again too soon
But this treasure he’s far too volatile
He’s never known to smile
I think he’s messing up your whole plan
You see his stumbling block is this backwardness
And how your presence here could mean that much
He’s got aversions to all your adult ways
I see him flinching at your every touch
And as stars are shining up overhead
As you lay in bed, will he just tremble all around you?
Find me, find me your endeavour
If it’s not looking out for someone new
And we could try to, try to stay together
Because there’s nothing more that I can do
Oh I can try to, try to hold my head up higher
But I’ll never get inspired
I’ll just undertake the sheepish things I do
And I can be that way if I want to
But I never wanted to
Find me, find me your endeavour
If it’s not looking out for someone new
And we could try to, try to stay together
‘Cos there’s nothing more that I can do
Oh I can try to, try to hold my head up higher
But I’ll never get inspired
I’ll just undertake the sheepish things I do
I’m just trying to find the way out

This is absolutely beautiful! I am so happy the Under the Bridge releases led me down this road. It's unexpectedly spacious and just makes me happy! It's very hard to pick a favorite and I will not be skipping tracks as I play through this repeatedly. zq9mare1
Released in 2001, “The Convincer” is a gentle gem in the Nick Lowe catalog; an anniversary edition provides opportunity for rediscovery. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 20, 2021
